“Excuse me. You’re kind of interrupting.”
Ever felt like you were interrupting a conversation? Feel like you’re butting in? Maybe you were standing a bit too close to people talking in hushed tones?
Sound familiar? Yeah, it happens. And chances are, if you felt that way, you were indeed interrupting!
But that’s not the way it is here! This is a blog! Jump (or Butt) right in!
You may feel that talking about issues pertaining to sustainability on green blogs is not worth your while, after all, you recycle, use a reusable water bottle, and do a lot of the, “little things,” to be greener. You generally, “care about the environment.” What more do you need to do? (Answer: join the conversation!).
And besides, what do you know? You don’t want to be that green smarty-pants, always commenting on green blogs, sharing the latest green innovation article with all your friends, and making everyone feel as if they weren’t, “green” enough. Do you?
Sure. I’ve had those types of thoughts.
And then I got over those fears and began blogging, talking, conversing, writing, sharing, posting, you name it!
It’s not butting in but rather having important, worthwhile conversations. I realized that while I have much to learn, I have a lot to share about sustainable living. And you don’t have to be a blogger to join in — you can share, comment, and even guest blog if you care to!
Care about the environment?
Ask anyone if they care about the environment and chances are, the answer will be, “yes.” But do they say so? Actively?
And caring is only part of the battle — following it with meaningful actions — daily actions, yearly ones, life-long habits, exercising your green purchasing power — is necessary to make your care worthwhile.
That’s where we come in. Here, we have hundreds of articles for you to peruse, search through via our search box in the upper right-hand corner or by category to the right. When you find a useful article, chances are, a friend might enjoy having it sent their way!
No, we’re not a be-all, end-all of blogs (no one is!); but you’re sure to find yourself reading unique content, and it’s not more than you can handle!
In fact, one of our latest series, Green Life Project, goes step-by-step, offering week-by-week changes to make in your life toward greener living. By the end of a year of following this series, you will have made yourself significantly more sustainable.
Become A Green Example!
And you’ll be a great example to the world. Your friends and family (and maybe even strangers) will be influenced by the little changes you continue to make — and you may not even know that they were impacted by you.
Just don’t flaunt it! Be humble when you’re verbalizing your changes. And don’t shut people out if they’re hesitant or even resistant to making adjustments to their lives. It takes more time for some than others. Respect is the key when sharing.
Share your experience
Share your journey toward greener living with others not only in your conversations, but when you read something of interest on Earthascope.com or other green blogs, introduce it to friends and family via Facebook and other social networking sites, StumbleUpon, and emailing it. These functions are built into every post, at the beginning and end of each post.
Stay in the green loop yourself by subscribing to our email subscription or RSS feed. You can do this at the begining and end of every post and from the homepage using the upper right tabs.
You are the influencer!
By sharing greener living tips and information regarding sustainability with others, you change yourself into an influencer: you become someone who is affecting others’ habits for the better!
By actively participating in the conversations on this and other blogs, you empower yourself to impact others’ ideas and thinking about very important issues. Leading others to open their minds is step one to positive change.
With that, one last tip: leave comments on green blogs to further the conversation — the opportunity is at the end of each of our posts, and most other blogs as well. We want to hear what you think, including your questions and opinions.
And I promise, I’ll never tell you that you’re, “kind of interrupting”!
