Did you know that an estimated 110 million trees are cut down every year with the sole purpose of filling your mailbox with unsolicited credit cards offers, catalogs, and other various forms of junk mail?  Well, I don’t have to convince you that it’s not just annoying but incredibly wasteful when you think about it. How about some easy, quick tips for reducing the amount of junk mail you get every day?

1. Direct Mail Do Not Mail List :: Sign up here to remove your name from the mailing lists and, BOOM, no more direct mail ads.
2. Opt-out of Credit Card Offers :: Here you can opt-out of credit card offers with the big four credit reporting agencies.  Sidenote: These offers have always made me feel especially uncomfortable with the dangers of identity theft among other things.  So cut them off at the roots!
3. Catalog Choice :: Get off all the catalog lists all at once using this free service.  Couldn’t be much easier and probably an even bigger impact than most since half of these guys are sending out full freakin’ novels!
4. Opt out of Paper Statements :: Elect to receive only electronic invoices and statements for your credit cards, bank, cable (or satellite) provider, insurance, etc.  These are all available online already, and if they’re not, tell your company to step into the 21st century and get a clue!
5. 41 Pounds or Green Dimes :: Both of these are paid junk mail removal services, so if all the options above fail, call out the professionals and have them take these guys to task for you!
